Jackton Distillery Launches First RAER Single Malt from One of Scotland’s Youngest Female Whisky Leaders

Jackton Distillery has announced the public pre-sale of its first-ever RAER Single Malt Scotch Whisky, marking a major milestone for the independent, family-run Lowland distillery and its Managing Director Jaynie Kean, aged 28.

RAER Single Malt Scotch Whisky, The Inaugural Release, is available to pre-buy now for £68, with the first release limited to 6,000 individually hand-numbered bottles. Shipping will begin on 4 September 2026, with distillery collection also available.

Distilled, matured and bottled at Jackton Distillery, just outside Glasgow, the release marks the culmination of a journey that began when the Kean family laid down its first casks in February 2020.

A milestone for the Kean family

For Jaynie Kean, who now leads Jackton Distillery as Managing Director, the inaugural release represents far more than the arrival of a new whisky.

“Our first Single Malt is a huge moment for us as a family, as a team and as a young distillery. We laid down our first casks in February 2020, and since then we’ve watched, waited, tasted, learned and kept moving towards the point where we could finally share a Single Malt with RAER’s name on the bottle.”

“This release means so much because it carries the story of everyone who’s been part of Jackton so far. It’s our first chapter in Single Malt, and we wanted it to feel open, human and true to the way we do things here.”

That philosophy has influenced the development of the first batch. During the process, Jackton shared early samples with visitors, trade contacts and whisky specialists, gathering feedback as the team refined the whisky ahead of its release.

As a tribute to those who contributed to the process, the names of participants have been included on the Single Malt box, highlighting the people who helped shape The Inaugural Release.

A whisky made to be shared

Jaynie Kean added:

“Whisky should feel special, but it should never feel closed off. We’ve always wanted Jackton to be a place where people can ask questions, taste, learn and feel part of the story, whether they’re lifelong whisky fans or trying Single Malt for the first time.”

“The Inaugural Release is collectable, yes. But above all, it’s whisky made to be opened, shared and remembered.”

Bourbon and sherry cask influence

The first RAER Single Malt brings together spirit matured in Bourbon, Pedro Ximénez, Amontillado and Oloroso casks, creating a profile built around richness, warmth and balance.

Tasting notes:

  • Nose: Fruitcake, fig and sultana.
  • Palate: Dark fruits, treacle and roasted nuts.
  • Finish: Long and mellow, with toffee, sweet spice and soft oak.

The whisky is bottled at 48.7% ABV, with natural colour and no chill filtration.

A new chapter for Jackton Distillery

Founded by the Kean family on their farm in South Lanarkshire, Jackton Distillery has quickly established itself as one of Scotland’s emerging new whisky producers.

The distillery is female-led, family-run and independent, with its operation extending beyond whisky production to include a growing visitor experience, tours and accommodation.

The arrival of RAER Single Malt therefore represents an important step for a distillery that has spent the past six years patiently building its stocks and developing its own identity.

With 6,000 bottles making up The Inaugural Release, RAER now begins its journey into the wider whisky market – offering the first taste of what Jackton Distillery has been maturing since 2020.
