Fife-based InchDairnie Distillery has unveiled its first Single Malt Scotch Whisky releases under the KinGlassie name, marking a major milestone for the modern, innovation-driven distillery. Both expressions are heavily peated malts, each aged for eight years and showcasing different maturation techniques and flavour profiles.
KinGlassie Double Matured 8 Year Old
This release is made using Scottish mainland peat with a phenol content of 50ppm, creating a bold, smoky profile. It undergoes double distillation and double condensation, maximising copper contact to reduce sulphur notes and enhance refinement. The whisky is matured for five years in ex-bourbon casks, followed by three years in Amontillado sherry casks, and bottled at 46.3% ABV. Described as offering a blend of smoke and tobacco with almonds and nutty richness, it delivers a velvety, complex dram.
KinGlassie Raw 8 Year Old
Also peated to 50ppm, KinGlassie Raw is aged entirely in American oak ex-bourbon casks for eight years. Bottled at 46.3% ABV, it’s presented as a more direct expression of the distillery’s peated character — an “untamed, all-enveloping yet precision-balanced smokiness,” layered over rich, sweet maltiness.
KinGlassie Double Matured is available now via select retailers and the InchDairnie website, with a recommended price of £79. Meanwhile, KinGlassie Raw is being offered exclusively through The Whisky Exchange and Speciality Drinks for one month, after which it will be more widely available.
These releases signal the long-awaited debut of InchDairnie’s own single malt output, following years of experimental whisky production and a focus on innovation since the distillery’s founding in 2015.
