Glasgow Distillery has announced the launch of three limited edition single malts, each matured in rare wine casks as part of its award-winning Small Batch Series. These releases showcase the distillery’s ongoing commitment to experimentation and flavour exploration.
➡ Glasgow 1770 Constantia Wine Cask Matured is a non-peated single malt matured in casks that previously held South African dessert wine from Constantia. Bottled at 56.6% ABV, it offers notes of fresh apricot, peach, pink grapefruit, clementine, rich manuka honey and dark chocolate. 980 bottles have been released.
➡ Glasgow 1770 Syrah Wine Cask Matured is another non-peated whisky, this time matured in casks from Greek Syrah red wine from the island of Evia. It brings flavours of blackberry, raspberry, strawberry jam, black cherry, dark chocolate and pink pepper, balanced by vanilla and caramel. Bottled at 59.3% ABV, just 652 bottles are available.
➡ Glasgow 1770 Pineau des Charentes Wine Cask Matured is the only peated whisky in this series. It was initially matured in first-fill bourbon barrels before finishing in French Pineau des Charentes casks. Expect aromas of candied apple, maple syrup, smoked ham, walnut, orange peel and floral green pepper. Bottled at 58.7% ABV, only 303 bottles exist.
All three whiskies are five years old and were finished for nearly a year in their respective wine casks. The releases will be available from Tuesday 13 May. In the UK, bottles will retail at £59 and can be purchased via the Glasgow Distillery website and selected whisky retailers.
