Ardgowan Distillery Company Secures Distribution Across Key Markets

Independent Scotch whisky company Ardgowan appoints multiple distributors as it increases global availability

Ardgowan Distillery Company Ltd, producer of premium Scotch whisky and owner of the Clydebuilt brand, has announced a series of new distribution partnerships that will accelerate the brand’s growth across key markets in Europe, North America and Asia.

Ardgowan Distillery – home of Clydebuilt – is where casks are carefully matured and hand-selected for bottling by Distillery Manager and Whisky Maker Laura Davies. The range draws inspiration from the proud shipbuilding heritage of the River Clyde, where the term “Clydebuilt” became synonymous with craftsmanship and reliability.

Ardgowan Distillery has announced the two final additions to its celebrated Clydebuilt whisky series: Anchorsmith and Draughtsman Blended Scotch Malt Whiskies.  The penultimate release in the Clydebuilt series, Anchorsmith combines six distinct whiskies from renowned Lowland, Speyside, and Highland distilleries, each matured in first fill oloroso sherry casks and handpicked by Master Whisky Maker Max McFarlane. Marking the final chapter of the series, Draughtsman offers a grand finale to savour. This unique blend marries a small parcel of Ardgowan’s oldest hand selected casks with six distinctive first fill oloroso sherry matured malts from across Scotland.

New distribution partnerships

In August 2025, Ardgowan Distillery signed an exclusive agreement with Kammer-Kirsch GmbH, a renowned German importer of premium spirits established in 1990. The partnership grants Kammer-Kirsch full distribution rights for Ardgowan’s portfolio in Germany – identified as one of the company’s most important markets.

Further routes to market have been secured with:

  • Roy + Co in Canada
  • Galatea AB in Sweden
  • Single Malt Sdn Bhd covering Singapore and Malaysia

Leadership perspectives

David Keir, Ardgowan’s Sales & Marketing Director, commented:

“These new partnerships mark a significant milestone for us as we bring the boutique Clydebuilt brand and, in time, Ardgowan Single Malt to discerning whisky drinkers in these key regions. Consumers in these countries have a deep appreciation for Scotch whisky, and through close collaboration with our new partners, we can share our passion for quality, innovation and craftsmanship on a much broader scale.”

Gerald Erdrich, Managing Director of Kammer-Kirsch GmbH, added:

“We are delighted to introduce Ardgowan’s Clydebuilt range to Germany, followed in due course by the first Ardgowan Single Malt. Ardgowan’s long-term vision and dedication to quality make them an ideal partner, and we look forward to growing the brand together in this important market.”

Innovation and growth

Ardgowan Distillery – the first new distillery in Inverclyde for over a century – began producing spirit in June 2025. Built with sustainability at its core, the distillery has invested heavily in long-term whisky maturation.

Three years before completion, the business committed millions of pounds to cask acquisitions, including the development of its own bespoke format – the Infinity Cask – specifically designed for extended maturation of 18 years or more.

Founded in 2017, Ardgowan remains independently owned and places strong emphasis on its wood policy. In partnership with Bodega Miguel Martín, the distillery secures the finest European oak ex-sherry casks to craft whiskies of exceptional character.

Alongside its global expansion, Ardgowan has recently launched a visitor centre and retail shop at its Inverkip site. Distillery tours currently run twice daily from Tuesday to Saturday, with plans to extend in the near future.
