Compass Box Marks 25 Years with New Flaming Heart Edition

Compass Box has unveiled Flaming Heart: 25th Anniversary Edition, the eighth release in its acclaimed limited edition Blended Malt Scotch Whisky series. This latest edition leans entirely on peated whiskies and those matured in custom French oak barrels—departing from the formula of earlier versions, which typically included a mix of peated and unpeated components.

The recipe is as follows:

  • 35.5% Benrinnes (Single Malt), finished for four years in custom French oak barrels with various toasts
  • 48.1% Talisker (Single Malt), matured in recharred American oak hogsheads
  • 3% Laphroaig (Single Malt), finished for two years in first-fill Marsala barriques
  • 13.4% “Williamson” Islay Malt (Blended Malt), recharred American oak hogsheads

Bottled at 48.9% ABV, non chill-filtered and with no added colour, this whisky is described as offering aromas of rich, oily smoke, vibrant spice, and subtle fruit notes (raspberry and apricot), with undertones of tar and sea air. On the palate, expect clove, pink and black pepper, nutmeg, and a balance of bright fruit and medicinal peat. The finish is long, ashy and smoky, with hints of menthol and citrus oil.

Limited to 9,384 bottles globally, Compass Box Flaming Heart: 25th Anniversary Edition is now available with an RRP of £130 (approx. $165) for a 700ml bottle.
