To mark the 20th anniversary of Glasgow’s SWG3 — the multi-purpose arts and event space located near The Clydeside Distillery — a new limited-edition single malt has been unveiled: Clydeside Velvet Odyssey.
Produced using water from Loch Katrine and 100% Scottish barley, Velvet Odyssey was initially matured in first-fill bourbon casks, before being transferred to Pedro Ximénez sherry casks for a five-month finishing period. Bottled at 48.5% ABV, the whisky is non-chill filtered and naturally coloured.
The resulting profile is described as offering aromas and flavours of tropical fruits, toffee, oak spice, and dark chocolate.
This release is a collaboration between The Clydeside Distillery, SWG3, and acclaimed Scottish contemporary artist Jim Lambie, who created the artwork featured on the label and packaging. The original piece was commissioned in 2006 for the Comme des Garçons Guerrilla Store (0044 141), then housed on SWG3’s ground floor.
