This January, The Lost Close invites guests to celebrate Burns Night in a truly unforgettable way, with an intimate evening of Scottish heritage, rare whiskies and immersive storytelling set across two of Edinburgh’s most exclusive private spaces.
Taking place on 24 and 25 January 2026, the event is limited to just 20 guests per night, offering a rare opportunity to step inside a private luxury apartment overlooking St Giles’ Cathedral, Mercat Cross and Parliament Square. Seldom open to the public, the venue provides a remarkable backdrop for an evening dedicated to Scotland’s culture and history.
From the moment guests arrive at 6pm, greeted by the sound of the pipes, the night unfolds as a carefully curated celebration. A welcome glass of fizz sets the tone before the ceremonial Address to a Haggis, delivered by a bagpiper as the haggis is proudly led in.
Storytelling sits at the heart of the experience. Expert hosts will bring to life the stories of Robert Burns and Robert Fergusson, whose poetry profoundly influenced Burns, alongside fascinating insights into Parliament Square, St Giles’ Cathedral, and the hidden history of The Lost Close itself. Between these moments, guests will enjoy a three-course Scottish dinner, with each dish thoughtfully paired with an exceptional whisky, guided by The Lost Close’s whisky expert.
The tasting showcases four outstanding Scotch whiskies, including Annandale Distillery’s Man O’Words, a single cask expression from the historic Lowland distillery, and An Edinburgh Dram, distilled in 1991 at North British and matured for over 33 years. The evening concludes underground at The Lost Close, where guests will savour The Lost Close 2, a single cask whisky bottled exclusively for the venue at 57.6% ABV, with only 190 bottles ever produced. Following the final dram, guests are welcome to remain in the atmospheric underground space until 11pm.
This is far more than a traditional Burns Night supper. It is an immersive journey through Scotland’s poetry, history and whisky craftsmanship, set within spaces few will ever experience.
