The Glenlivet has announced the return of its Small Batch Collection, unveiling three new limited-edition aged single malts that once again place cask selection and flavour development at the heart of the range. The release introduces fresh expressions across the same trio of age statements as the inaugural collection: 17 Year Old, 19 Year Old and 20 Year Old, each crafted to highlight a distinct flavour profile.
Developed under the guidance of Kevin Balmforth, The Glenlivet’s Cask Master, the Small Batch Collection is designed to explore how carefully chosen cask combinations can elevate specific flavour characteristics while remaining true to The Glenlivet’s classic Speyside style. All three whiskies are bottled at cask strength, non-chill filtered, and produced in limited quantities, reinforcing the collection’s appeal to both enthusiasts and collectors.
At the core of the range is a deliberate and expressive use of wood. Each whisky is named after the flavour profile shaped by its cask recipe. The Glenlivet 17 Year Old Wildflower Honey is matured exclusively in first-fill American oak, delivering a bright, floral and honeyed character. The Glenlivet 19 Year Old Indulgent Chocolate combines first-fill American oak, first-fill sherry casks and second-fill ex-Scotch barrels, creating a richer, dessert-like style. Completing the trio, The Glenlivet 20 Year Old Orchard Fruitiness is matured in a combination of first-fill American oak, second-fill ex-Scotch casks and second-fill American oak hogsheads, resulting in a deeply fruity and syrupy profile.
Commenting on the release, Kevin Balmforth said:
“The Glenlivet Small Batch Collection is a celebration of discovery, inviting whisky appreciators and collectors to explore the extraordinary spectrum of flavours that can be achieved through meticulous cask combination. Each expression has been carefully crafted to allow specific notes to shine, while still retaining the inherent character of The Glenlivet.”
He added that the 17 Year Old opens with bright apple and citrus notes that evolve into floral sweetness, the 19 Year Old delivers dark fruits, spice and indulgent richness, while the 20 Year Old offers lush orchard fruits and warming spice, creating a progression of flavour across the collection.
The Small Batch Collection is available globally through selected specialist retailers and at The Home of The Glenlivet in Speyside, with recommended retail prices of €154 for the 17 Year Old, €220 for the 19 Year Old, and €300 for the 20 Year Old.
