Bruichladdich Distillery has unveiled The Laddie Rye, a new limited-edition rye whisky available exclusively in the United States.
Building on Head Distiller Adam Hannett’s pioneering work with The Regeneration Project — the world’s first Islay rye whisky — The Laddie Rye represents another bold step in the distillery’s exploration of provenance, sustainability, and flavour innovation.
Distilled from 55% Islay-grown rye (harvested at Coull Farm) and 45% Islay malting barley (sourced from multiple local farming partners within an 11-mile radius of the distillery), The Laddie Rye captures the spirit of Islay’s terroir in every drop.
Matured for seven years in a combination of first-fill bourbon barrels and first-fill virgin American oak casks (toasted, not charred), this release is non-chill filtered, natural in colour, and bottled at 50% ABV.
The whisky opens with aromas of liquorice, ground ginger, cracked black pepper, cinnamon, and nutmeg, underpinned by herbaceous notes. On the palate, expect black pepper, warming spices, honey, vanilla, and fudge, followed by a lingering finish of spice that evolves into fruity, floral tones and mellow toasted oak.
Bruichladdich The Laddie Rye is now available through select U.S. retailers, with a suggested retail price of $60.00.
