Michter’s Distillery has announced the long-awaited release of its 20 Year Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon, approved by Master Distiller Dan McKee and Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson. Shipments of this rare and highly anticipated expression will begin December 1st, reaching select bars, restaurants, and retailers across the United States.
This release follows Michter’s recent accolade as “The World’s Most Admired Whiskey” for an unprecedented third consecutive year, as recognized in Drinks International’s 2025 list compiled by an international panel of 100 industry experts, buyers, and journalists.
“Aging bourbon for two decades in a brand new American oak barrel is an extraordinary challenge,” said Michter’s President Joseph J. Magliocco. “It requires a masterful balance of art and science. I believe people will recognize and appreciate the meticulous work of our production team when they taste this exceptional whiskey.”
Under the guidance of Andrea Wilson, the distillery’s Master of Maturation, Michter’s focuses on precise barrel management and carefully controlled warehouse conditions to ensure the integrity of long-aged stock.
“Details matter when it comes to aging bourbon gracefully,” Wilson noted. “Michter’s 20 Year Bourbon exemplifies how oak can deepen notes of vanilla, toffee, chocolate, spice, fruit, and confectionery — enhancing complexity in a way only time can.”
Bottled at 114.2 proof (57.1% ABV), the 2025 edition of Michter’s 20 Year Bourbon will be offered at a suggested U.S. retail price of $1,200 (750ml).

Beyond its main distillery in Louisville’s Shively district, Michter’s operations span three Kentucky sites:
- A 205-acre farm in Springfield, where estate-grown grain is cultivated.
- The Fort Nelson Distillery in downtown Louisville — home to the legendary Pennsylvania pot still system, educational tours, whiskey tastings, and The Bar at Fort Nelson, featuring classic cocktails curated by spirits historian David Wondrich.
With its combination of age, craft, and heritage, Michter’s 20 Year Bourbon stands as one of the distillery’s most collectible releases to date.
