Boann Distillery celebrates St Patrick’s Day with Single Pot Still whiskey and signature cocktails

With St Patrick’s Day celebrations approaching across Ireland and around the world, Boann Distillery is inviting whiskey lovers to raise a glass to one of Ireland’s most distinctive styles — Single Pot Still Irish whiskey.

Located in County Meath in the Boyne Valley, the distillery produces three Single Pot Still expressions using locally sourced grains from nearby farms. Each whiskey is crafted with a mash bill combining malted and unmalted barley alongside oats and rye — a production approach rarely seen in Irish whiskey for more than 50 years.

Boann’s brewing system is also unique within the Irish whiskey industry. The distillery operates a purpose-built setup featuring both a mash conversion vessel and a lauter tun, designed specifically to efficiently process the unmalted grains essential to Single Pot Still production.

The whiskeys are matured in a range of distinctive casks including Marsala, Madeira and Pedro Ximénez, each imparting its own character and flavour profile. The resulting spirits showcase rich texture and depth while reflecting both Ireland’s distilling heritage and the agricultural landscape of the Boyne Valley.

“Every raw ingredient we use is 100% natural and locally sourced,” said Pat Cooney, founder of Boann Distillery. “Our barley comes from local farmers and every drop of water is drawn from our well in the Boyne Valley.”

Alongside its whiskeys, the distillery is also highlighting The Whistler Irish Cream, the first Irish cream liqueur in the world made with Single Pot Still Irish whiskey. The liqueur blends fresh cream from grass-fed Irish cows with Boann’s whiskey spirit, resulting in a rich and indulgent profile with one of the highest cream contents, whiskey percentages and alcohol levels in its category.

Both the Single Pot Still whiskeys and The Whistler Irish Cream are available through the distillery’s website, with a 10% discount available until March 17 using the code SPRING10. The Single Pot Still whiskey is priced at €62.98 (normally €69.95), while The Whistler Irish Cream is available for €33.25 (normally €36.95).

To help celebrate the holiday, Boann Distillery has also created a selection of cocktails designed to highlight the versatility of its whiskeys and Irish cream.
