Kilchoman unveils rare Maury Cask Matured release with bold wine cask influence

Kilchoman has introduced Maury Cask Matured, a striking new limited edition that showcases the distillery’s commitment to full cask maturation and bold flavour exploration. This marks the first time Kilchoman has released a whisky fully matured in Maury wine casks – a rare and challenging cask type known for its intense, fortified sweetness.

Time spent in these casks has delivered rich layers of dates, raisins, and dark honey, beautifully balanced with Kilchoman’s signature peat smoke and citrus brightness. The result is a whisky that combines depth, structure, and complexity with a distinctive crimson hue.

Tasting notes:

  • Nose: Figs, raisins, dates, salted caramel, orange peel, soft peat smoke
  • Palate: Pipe smoke, dark chocolate, treacle, warming spices
  • Finish: Dried fruits, cacao, earthy peat smoke, gentle dry spice

Anthony Wills, Founder of Kilchoman, commented: “The Maury Cask Matured is a first ever release for us and something rarely seen on the market. These powerful fortified wine casks can be challenging, but when you get them right, they create something truly special.”

He added that the distillery’s full maturation approach has allowed the Maury cask influence to shine, delivering a whisky that is both bold and beautifully balanced.
