White Peak Distillery has announced the launch of Wire Works Port Cask, the third whisky to join its newly named Wire Works Provenance Core Range — a milestone that marks nearly eight years since the Derbyshire distillery first began its journey to craft a distinctly English single malt rooted in provenance, patience, and place.
From the start, Port casks have been an integral part of White Peak’s story, featuring in early limited-edition releases such as Double Oak Port, Full Port, and the Distillery-exclusive hand-fill. Now, Wire Works Port Cask represents the culmination of years of experimentation and refinement — a whisky that embodies the distillery’s signature lightly peated style while embracing the depth and richness of Tawny Port maturation.
The new release marries fresh Tawny Port barriques from Dias Cooperage with first-fill American oak ex-bourbon barrels, resulting in a whisky that balances rich fruit-driven notes with White Peak’s vibrant character. Expect aromas of Bakewell pudding, milk chocolate, and cinder toffee, leading into a palate of strawberries and cream, marzipan, and vanilla fudge, and finishing with cherry pie, bonfire toffee, and eucalyptus.
Founder Max Vaughan said:
“Almost a decade since we started, it feels like a coming of age to add a third release to our Wire Works Provenance Core Range. Whisky requires long-term attention to detail and patience — and our new Port Cask embodies this careful, considered approach.”
Together with Wire Works Caduro (launched 2023) and Wire Works Bourbon Barrel (2024), this new release forms the foundation of the Provenance Core Range — a collection of lightly peated, flavour-led English single malts shaped by White Peak’s distinctive approach. Every stage, from mashing to bottling, takes place at the historic Wire Works site on the banks of the River Derwent, a UNESCO World Heritage location that inspires the distillery’s craftsmanship and identity.
Distilled from local Publican barley, fermented with a bespoke yeast blend including Thornbridge Brewery’s spent brewers’ yeast, and matured in hand-selected casks, the Wire Works Port Cask showcases the culmination of nearly a decade of English whisky innovation.

Bottled at 50.2% ABV, non-chill filtered, and with natural colour, Wire Works Port Cask will be available from 17th October 2025 via White Peak’s Distillery shop, UK trade partners, and international distributors shortly after. RRP: £65 (70cl).
