Still Life Summer captures the essence of the season—long daylight hours, clear blue skies, and warm, balmy evenings—as Scotland’s countryside prepares for the harvest. As summer reaches its peak, the landscape bursts into life, with combines roaring through golden fields, tractors hauling barley, and the air filled with the scent of fresh straw.
Selected from five handpicked Glenturret casks, all aged for over a quarter of a century, the whisky embodies the vibrancy of summer. Three refill hogsheads lend a bright, lively character, perfectly balanced by the rich fruits and spices drawn from two first-fill sherry casks.
Tasting Notes: A Summer Symphony
This exquisite whisky offers a complex yet harmonious tasting experience:
- Sun-ripened tropical fruits, cinnamon, and aniseed create a warm, inviting palate.
- Aging oak notes float on the breeze, merging with sweet vanilla and undertones of freshly harvested grain.
- As the day ends, soft fruit and wood spices frame the sunset, with rich pineapple dipping toward the horizon, escorted by mellow fruits and aged oak as dusk settles in.

The Glenturret’s Summer Tradition
Bob Dalgarno, The Glenturret Whisky Maker, reflects on the distillery’s seasonal rhythms: “For The Glenturret Distillery, summer has traditionally been a quieter time, marked by our silent season. Historically, this was due to the reduced water supply during the warmer months and the need for production workers to assist on farms during the busy summer. While modern times have altered this dynamic, many distilleries still take a summer break for essential maintenance.“
Dalgarno continues, “Even though production slows, farming never does, and I relish watching the barley transform from green to gold under the sun’s warmth. Walking through the fields, chatting with farmers, and observing the crop’s progress is something I eagerly anticipate each year.”
The Art of the Decanter
Designed by Marc Larminaux, Artistic and Creative Director at Lalique, the Still Life Decanter is a masterpiece of craftsmanship. Handcrafted at the Lalique factory in Alsace, the frosted crystal decanter echoes the shape of copper stills, while the polished lines represent the staves of the casks that have nurtured the whisky over the years. Each decanter comes in a custom-made box, with colors representing each season, further enhancing the collectible nature of this release.
