The Glenlivet has unveiled its new 12 Year Old Provence Edition, a limited release inspired by the landscapes, flavours and relaxed character of Southern France.
The latest expression in the distillery’s Beyond Speyside series combines The Glenlivet’s elegant house style with a distinctly Provençal influence, achieved through a carefully selected finish in three French wine cask types.
Under the guidance of Cask Master Kevin Balmforth, the whisky was selectively finished in casks from Château Sainte Marguerite in Provence, as well as Rivesaltes and Sauternes casks. The Château Sainte Marguerite casks are particularly notable, coming from one of just 18 estates holding Cru Classé des Côtes de Provence status.
Each cask contributes a different layer to the final whisky. Château Sainte Marguerite brings bright citrus and floral notes, Rivesaltes adds nuts and warming spice, while Sauternes contributes marmalade and crème brûlée.
The result combines The Glenlivet’s signature mellow character with white peach, nectarine, pear and bright citrus, alongside delicate florals and subtle spice.
“This is the first time we have used French white wine casks in a Glenlivet expression,” said Aurélie Torre, Vice President of Marketing Specialty Whiskies, adding that the release aims to remain true to the distillery’s Scottish character while introducing a new taste experience.
The Provence Edition has also recently received a Gold medal at the 2026 Scotch Whisky Masters.
The whisky comes in new packaging inspired by Provence, combining lavender hues, warm golden tones and The Glenlivet’s signature teal to reflect the meeting of Scottish whisky-making and Southern French inspiration.
The Glenlivet 12 Year Old Provence Edition is available in selected markets worldwide at a recommended price of $54.99 USD.
