Aberlour has expanded its permanent portfolio with the launch of its oldest expressions to date, introducing the new 21 Year Old and 25 Year Old single malts. The releases mark a significant milestone in the Speyside distillery’s 150-year history and showcase its long-standing approach to double cask maturation.
Guided by Master Distiller Graeme Cruickshank, both whiskies have been created from carefully selected, decades-old casks. They will be released in highly limited annual batches, with the 21 Year Old becoming Aberlour’s first annual permanent release at this age.
The Aberlour 21 Year Old has been matured for more than two decades in a combination of American oak and Sherry oak casks. Bottled at an elevated 48% ABV, it offers aromas of cherries, spiced baked apples and rich toffee, followed by chocolate and warm ginger on the palate, with a lingering spicy finish.
The Aberlour 25 Year Old takes a more exclusive approach, combining a small number of exceptionally rare hand-selected casks, including a first-fill Sherry hogshead. Bottled at cask strength and non-chill filtered, it delivers a sweet, fruit-forward profile, with creamy vanilla, spiced ginger and aromatic cardamom.
According to Graeme Cruickshank, the two releases represent the result of decades of patience and precision, with the influence of oak carefully monitored to ensure each cask reaches its peak.
Both expressions are presented in elegantly crafted display boxes, reinforcing their positioning as premium additions to the Aberlour range.
The Aberlour 21 Year Old and 25 Year Old will be released from September 2026 through selected retailers worldwide.
