Proof 8 and Cockayne Systems Partner to Digitise Whisky Production from Fill to Compliance

Proof 8, the blockchain-backed distillery and warehouse management platform, has announced a strategic partnership with Cockayne Systems, part of DPS Group, a long-established specialist in precision cask filling, disgorging and calibration for the whisky industry.

The collaboration brings together physical cask-filling technology and digital distillery management, creating a fully connected workflow that captures production data at the moment of cask filling and feeds it directly into Proof 8’s platform. By removing manual data entry, the integration significantly reduces human error, improves traceability, and delivers new levels of operational efficiency.

“This partnership introduces a new operational framework where the act of filling a cask instantly becomes part of a verified digital record,” said Stuart Maxwell, COO at Proof 8. “It simplifies compliance reporting further down the line and strengthens traceability across the entire supply chain. Together, our systems create a single, tamper-proof source of truth for every cask.”

A connected future for whisky producers

By integrating Cockayne’s proven cask and IBC filling systems with the Proof 8 platform, distilleries can automate a process that has traditionally relied on fragmented and duplicated manual records. Key production data – including volume, ABV and fill details – is captured in real time and embedded into each cask’s Digital Deed, forming a verified digital identity from day one.

This digital record allows producers to securely track provenance, location and ownership throughout a cask’s lifecycle, supporting both regulatory compliance and long-term stock management.

“This partnership is particularly valuable for distilleries already using, or considering, our filling systems,” said Murray Blyth, Client Relationship Director at DPS Group. “It provides a frictionless route into full digital transformation without disrupting existing operations.”

By aligning precision filling hardware with Proof 8’s digital platform, distilleries can eliminate duplicated record-keeping, save time and ensure that all fill data is accurately recorded. Crucially, this information is available in real time, exactly where it is needed.

When combined with data from disgorging operations, producers are also able to calculate cask-by-cask losses more accurately, providing clearer insight into maturation performance and the true impact of the Angel’s Share.

As demand for compliance, transparency and data integrity continues to grow across the whisky sector, the partnership highlights Proof 8’s focus on delivering practical, deeply integrated solutions to real production challenges. For distilleries seeking fully connected operations, this collaboration sets out a clear model where physical equipment and digital visibility work together to optimise whisky production from fill to bottle.
