Glen Grant has introduced its Splendours Collection, a new series showcasing the distillery’s rarest and oldest single malts. The inaugural release is a 65-year-old whisky, distilled in 1958 and matured in a single French oak butt housed in Warehouse No.4, the distillery’s oldest stone dunnage warehouse. Only 151 hand-crafted decanters, designed by John Galvin and Glasstorm, have been produced, with a recommended price of $50,000.
Each release in the Splendours Collection will pay tribute to elements from Glen Grant’s Garden of Splendours, with the 65-year-old honoring the Himalayan blue poppy, one of the rarest flowers on earth, symbolizing the eternal quest for excellence.
This expression offers aromas of sweet syrup, ripe blackberries, and sandalwood, leading to a palate of orange peel, black cherries, fruitcake, and dates. The finish delivers lingering citrus, spice, oak, and a touch of soft smoke.
Master Distiller Greig Stables highlighted the significance of this release, emphasizing its rarity and the continuity of Glen Grant’s whisky-making traditions since 1958.
This ultra-aged whisky follows The Glen Grant Devotion 70-Year-Old, created in collaboration with John Galvin, and The Visionary One of One, an exclusive 68-year-old expression crafted for the Distillers’ One of One auction.
The Glen Grant 65-Year-Old is now available in select global markets.
