Littlemill Launches ‘Echoes of the Past’: Travel Retail-Exclusive Whisky

The Loch Lomond Group has introduced Littlemill Echoes of the Past, a rare travel retail-exclusive whisky series offering collectors a chance to witness the gradual evolution of a single cask over three consecutive years.

This unprecedented series centres on a single Oloroso sherry cask from Littlemill, Scotland’s oldest licensed distillery, originally established in 1773 and now long closed. Only 50 bottles will be drawn annually from the cask, leaving the remainder to continue maturing for future editions.

The first release, Littlemill Echoes of the Past 34 Year Old, was distilled in 1990, matured for 25 years in refill American oak, and finished in the Oloroso cask selected specifically for this project. Bottled at cask strength (48.5% ABV), it will be available from 1 July 2025 at select global travel retail locations.

Presented in individually numbered Glencairn decanters with engraved detailing, each bottle comes in a bespoke oak display case featuring curved lines and a stone interior that references the historic Littlemill distillery. A 50ml miniature and certificate of ownership accompany each release.

The whisky offers floral aromas of rose petals and elderflower, followed by dried apricot, kiwi, and peach. The palate delivers brown sugar, honeysuckle, vanilla fudge, citrus, and a warming blend of cinnamon and ginger spice.

Loch Lomond Group’s Managing Director for Global Travel Retail, Luke Maga, said:

“Littlemill is a name that holds a revered place in Scotch whisky history. With the launch of Echoes of the Past, we are honoured to play a role in preserving Littlemill’s legacy through this exclusive release.”

Future releases in the series will follow in 2026 and 2027, offering a unique opportunity to taste the subtle changes in a single whisky as it continues to mature.
