Kingsbarns Distillery is set to release its Distillery Reserve 2024, an 8-year-old single malt that marks the oldest expression bottled by the Lowland distillery since its founding in 2014.
Distillery Manager Peter Holroyd expressed excitement over the upcoming release: “Each autumn, we eagerly anticipate the release of our annual Distillery Reserve, and this year’s offering is truly something special.”
The whisky has been fully matured in ex-solera oloroso sherry casks and is bottled at a robust 58.2% ABV. This maturation has infused the whisky with spiced fruity flavors, including cinnamon, clove, peach, and apricot.
Holroyd further noted the influence of local ingredients: “We’ve used locally grown barley and mineral-rich water sourced from beneath the distillery. Combined with the high-quality oloroso casks, this results in a perfectly balanced dram that is a joy to drink. The whisky’s color and flavor profile offer the ideal balance between distillery character and cask influence.”
Kingsbarns, known for its non-chill filtered whisky with natural color, continues to build on its reputation since its establishment. Earlier in 2024, the distillery’s parent company, Wemyss Family Spirits, committed to achieving net-zero emissions ahead of industry targets, further demonstrating its dedication to sustainability.
The Kingsbarns Distillery Reserve 2024 will be available for purchase online and at the distillery, priced at £75, starting from 16 October 2024.
