Glenmorangie unveils The Thirty as oldest core range single malt
Glenmorangie has introduced The Thirty, now the oldest whisky in the distillery’s core range, marking a new milestone in its long-running exploration of cask finishing and extended maturation.
Aged for 30 years, The Thirty brings together two distinct parcels of whisky. The majority has been finished for over 15 years in Burgundy red wine casks – an approach rarely seen at this scale – while the remainder has matured entirely in ex-bourbon barrels. The result is a profile that moves away from the distillery’s lighter house style, leaning instead into deeper, spiced and fruit-forward characteristics.
This release highlights Dr Bill Lumsden’s long-standing work with wine casks, particularly those from Burgundy, balanced here with classic bourbon maturation to retain elements of Glenmorangie’s signature elegance.
Tasting notes:
Nose: Raspberry, cherry, orange peel, soft spice
Palate: Ripe peach, candied orange, cumin, clove, leather
Finish: Lingering spice, dark fruits, subtle oak
Dr Bill Lumsden commented: “It takes three decades to nurture this whisky to its full potential – and we select only the casks which can stand the test of time. Showcasing a whisky long finished in Burgundy casks, The Thirty balances richer, fruity flavours with hints of our signature, elegant style.”
Glenmorangie The Thirty will be released from late March via the distillery’s official channels, including its visitor centre in Tain and select retail locations, with a recommended retail price of £740.
