The Isle of Tiree Distillery has shared exciting news: the remaining bottles of their First Release single malt whisky will be available to buy online starting Thursday, 9th January 2025, at 10:00 AM (local time). This whisky is the first to be produced on Tiree in more than 200 years, making it a special moment for the small Hebridean island.
Tiree, known as the “Land of Corn” (Tiriodh in Gaelic), has a long history of grain farming and whisky production. The team behind the Tiree Whisky Company, established in 2012, set out to bring whisky-making back to the island. Using traditional methods, they’ve created a single malt that’s a true reflection of Tiree’s unique environment.

The First Release was made from unpeated malted barley, mashed in a small oak mash tun, and distilled in copper pot stills heated by a direct flame. The whisky was matured in casks less than 100 meters from the North Atlantic Ocean, with a mix of:
- Ex-Bourbon barrels made from American oak,
- A small 50L Virgin Oak cask,
- And Oloroso Sherry casks from Spain.
The result is a whisky with rich, coastal flavors and plenty of character.
Each bottle comes in a beautifully designed box featuring an old map of Tiree from 1768. This release is limited to 800 bottles, bottled at 47% ABV, and priced at £199.99.
One thing to keep in mind: the distillery’s online shop only ships within the UK. EU customers will need a UK address for delivery.

For whisky lovers, this is a rare chance to experience the first whisky made on Tiree in generations. To learn more or secure your bottle, visit the Isle of Tiree Distillery’s website on the release date.
