Kilchoman has introduced its latest limited edition whisky, the Port Cask Matured 2024, which continues the tradition of unique cask maturation techniques. Following our previous articles on Kilchoman Sauternes Cask Matured and Kilchoman Loch Gorm 2024, this new release promises to intrigue whisky enthusiasts.
The 2024 edition is the third in the Port Cask Matured series, having been aged entirely in ruby port hogsheads, with the youngest cask being 6 years old. This full-term maturation approach distinguishes it from many others that typically use a finishing method.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Red berries, figs, citrus, cinnamon, and smoked paprika.
- Palate: Cooked strawberries, smoked meats, sweet tobacco, and charcoal smoke.
- Finish: Warming, featuring fruity sweetness and ashy smoke.
Kilchoman Founder, Anthony Wills, emphasizes the importance of full-term maturation, noting its complexity and the harmonious blend of Kilchoman’s natural citrus and sweetness with the port cask’s influence.
The Port Cask Matured (70cl, 50% ABV) will be available across Europe, with local stockists advised to hold bottles for those further afield.
