Glen Scotia Unveils Campbeltown Malts Festival 2025 Release: Heavily Peated 9-Year-Old Finished in Ribera del Duero Casks

Following on from last year’s Glen Scotia: Campbeltown Malts Festival 2024 bottling, which highlighted Glen Scotia’s balance of tradition and innovation, the distillery returns with a new expression crafted for the 2025 celebration. The 2024 release embraced a bold approach to cask finishing while remaining rooted in Campbeltown’s signature style—a direction continued with the new edition.

The Glen Scotia Campbeltown Malts Festival 2025 Edition is a 9-year-old heavily peated single malt, bottled at 54.3% ABV. Initially matured in first-fill Bourbon barrels, the whisky was finished for five months in Ribera del Duero red wine casks from Spain. This finish brings a vibrant, fruity dimension to Glen Scotia’s hallmark coastal and smoky profile.

The distillery describes the 2025 release as offering aromas of peat smoke, coastal salinity, and creamy vanilla, followed by blackberries, red fruits and luscious oils on the palate.

In addition to the whisky itself, this year’s edition features an interactive element. A QR code on the packaging links to a digital experience following three Scottish travel influencers on their journey to Campbeltown. The content is designed to give whisky fans a sense of Glen Scotia’s remote setting and the atmosphere surrounding the annual festival.

Iain McAlister, Glen Scotia’s Master Distiller and Distillery Manager, said:
“This year’s Festival Release promises a unique experience that will transport you straight to Campbeltown with your first sip. As well as delivering the maritime and salinity notes synonymous with Glen Scotia, this whisky also provides an element of surprise as it develops on the palate.”

He continued:
“The virtual on-pack experience offers something really special this year. Our remote home on the Kintyre peninsula makes for a wild and beautiful journey that not everyone is able to take. Now people can experience what it’s like to make the spectacular journey to Campbeltown with a selection of Scotland’s top travel content creators.”

The Glen Scotia Campbeltown Malts Festival 2025 release will be available later this month from specialist retailers, with an RRP of £68.00.
