Filey Bay Releases Limited Orange Wine Cask Single Malt

Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery has introduced a new cask finish for its Filey Bay range with the release of Filey Bay Orange Wine Barrique, a seven-year-old single malt matured in ex-bourbon casks before finishing in orange wine casks.

This whisky spent three years and three months in ex-bourbon casks before being re-racked into Vino Naranja del Condado de Huelva casks for an additional three years and ten months. This Spanish wine, fortified with grape spirit and infused with orange peel, has imparted distinctive citrus and aromatic notes to the whisky.

According to whisky director Joe Clark, four ex-orange wine barriques were carefully monitored over several years, resulting in a whisky that naturally settled at 46.2% ABV without final dilution. The whisky was originally filled into casks at a reduced 50% ABV in March 2021, gradually losing strength as the angels took their share.

A total of 1,100 bottles of Filey Bay Orange Wine Barrique have been released, available via spiritofyorkshire.com, the distillery shop, and specialist retailers, with an RRP of £85.
