Clydebuilt unveils four new whisky releases as £5 million is invested in the brand

Boutique Scotch whisky label Clydebuilt has expanded its range with the release of four new expressions, including three Single Cask Single Malts and a new Blended Malt.

Owned by independent whisky producer Ardgowan Distillery Company, the Clydebuilt brand has been laying down stocks since the company’s formation in 2016. Based in Inverclyde, Ardgowan Distillery began distilling its own malt whisky in June. While the new spirit matures, the Clydebuilt range “offers the opportunity for us to showcase our expertise in wood management and the art of blending”.

Named in tribute to the world-renowned shipbuilding heritage of the River Clyde, Clydebuilt has become synonymous with craftsmanship and quality. Reflecting the brand’s ambitions, Ardgowan Distillery has significantly strengthened its mature stock reserves with a £5 million investment in 2025, followed by a planned £4 million in 2026.

CEO Roland Grain explained:
Our bespoke Infinity Casks for Ardgowan spirit are designed for long maturation by their very nature. The stock we’ve already acquired, and this further investment, ensure Clydebuilt will have solid foundations for the decades ahead until Ardgowan Single Malt is truly ready. This is a key step in achieving our goal to double turnover annually until 2030.

The new releases were carefully selected by Laura Davies, Ardgowan’s Distillery Manager and Whisky Maker, with all casks aged on site in traditional dunnage warehouses.

The latest tranche includes one Blended Malt and three Single Cask Single Malts:

Clydebuilt 27 Year Old Blended Malt – Speyside, Highland & Island

100% Sherry matured | RRSP £95 | 408 bottles
A multilayered expression uniting Highland and Island malts matured in a Pedro Ximénez Sherry hogshead, alongside a 33-year-old malt distilled at Benrinnes. Rich, complex and deeply sherried.

Fettercairn 2009 – Bourbon Hogshead #800292

Single Cask Single Malt | RRSP £85 | 272 bottles
Matured on site at Ardgowan Distillery. The Bourbon cask influence brings notes of toffee apples, vanilla and citrus zest.

Royal Brackla 2012 – Bourbon Hogshead #306449

Single Cask Single Malt | RRSP £75 | 290 bottles
A vibrant Highland malt offering flavours of lemongrass, green apple and creamy vanilla.

Ben Nevis 2014 – Sherry Butt #800040

Single Cask Single Malt | RRSP £85 | 327 bottles
Matured in a Spanish Sherry butt, delivering cinnamon-stewed pears on the nose, with butterscotch, nutmeg and brown sugar on the palate.

All four new Clydebuilt expressions are bottled at natural cask strength, with no chill filtration and no added colour, preserving their full character and integrity.

Distillery Manager Laura Davies commented:
The Clydebuilt brand stands on craftsmanship and pride in quality, just like the Clyde’s former shipbuilders. With these new releases, we’ve drawn on exceptional whiskies and incredible, rich casks to create expressions full of character and individuality. These malts show just some of the scope we’re working with in our aged stocks. Having invested £5 million this year in securing stock to lay down for Clydebuilt, there’s a very bright future ahead for the brand.

In September, Ardgowan announced new distribution partnerships for Clydebuilt across Europe, North America and Asia, significantly enhancing the brand’s global reach.

The new Clydebuilt bottlings are available from specialist retailers from today. A list of UK stockists and international distributors can be found here.
