Three unique whiskies mark the latest outturn from Chorlton Whisky, each carefully selected to offer a distinct style. This diverse trio reflects the brand’s commitment to showcasing a wide range of profiles, catering to various preferences and occasions.
The first is a 17-year-old Speyside single malt from an oloroso hogshead. This sherry-forward whisky brims with richness, offering aromas of chocolate ganache, walnut cake, and tobacco, alongside hints of orange and roasted chestnuts. The palate delivers Dundee cake, black cherry, treacle toffee, and chocolate orange, with a development into toasted raisins and maple syrup. With water, the dram reveals lighter notes of apple pie and menthol. At 55.8% ABV, this expression yielded 321 bottles and is priced at £75.
Next is the bold and smoky 8-year-old Peallach, a Ledaig under an alternate name, fully matured in a rioja barrique. The nose brings smouldering tarmac, bandages, and buttery pastry, accented by salt and vinegar crisps and liquorice. The palate is intense, with charred lemons, black treacle, and a long ashy finish. With water, it softens, showcasing elemental smoke and brine. This unique release, bottled at 58.2% ABV, produced 293 bottles and is available for £65.
Completing the outturn is a 17-year-old Ben Nevis, described as elegant and fruity. On the nose, it combines ripe fruits like apple and peach with butter candy, soot, and fior di latte ice cream. The palate balances oranges, chalk, honeycomb, and subtle herbal notes, with a precise, coastal character emerging. Bottled at 48.8% ABV, this bourbon barrel release produced 285 bottles, priced at £95.
