Bushmills Irish Whiskey has introduced the second wave of releases in its Private Reserve series, a limited collection of Irish single malts featuring rare cask finishes.
Crafted by Master Blender Alex Thomas, these whiskies are made from 100% unpeated malted barley and spring water from the River Bush, undergoing triple distillation in traditional copper pot stills.
This new release includes four vintage single malts, initially matured in a combination of sherry and bourbon casks, followed by additional aging in a unique third cask.
The Private Reserve 10 Year Old Amarone Cask (2014 Vintage) is bottled at 47.3% ABV (94.6 Proof), offering aromas of rich dark fruits, cinnamon, and vanilla, with flavors of ripe cherry, blackberry, and plum, balanced by caramelized sugar, chocolate, and oak, finishing with mellow fruit and dryness.
The Private Reserve 10 Year Old Moscatel Cask (2013 Vintage), at 48.5% ABV (97 Proof), presents floral notes alongside caramelized sugar and orange blossom, leading to a palate of jam sweetness, vanilla, mandarin orange, peach, and apricots, with a sweet yet slightly dry finish.
The Private Reserve 12 Year Old Bordeaux Cask (2012 Vintage), bottled at 47% ABV (94 Proof), features aromas of ripe plums, wild berries, and warm vanilla, with flavors of plum, raspberry, black cherry, apple, honey, ginger, and vanilla, concluding with gentle spices, lemon peel, and ripe fruit.
The Private Reserve 12 Year Old Tequila Cask (2012 Vintage), at 46.6% ABV (93.2 Proof), offers aromas of sweet honey, vanilla, and crisp apple, with a palate of dried fruit, brown sugar, toasted nuts, melon, fudge, and herbs, finishing with caramel, anise, and sweet fruits.
