The Glendronach, owned by Brown-Forman, has introduced a striking new look and an innovative campaign in collaboration with renowned photographer Rankin. This significant rebranding effort aims to captivate a new generation of discerning whisky enthusiasts by blending tradition with modern luxury.
Revamping Tradition with Modern Luxury
Scheduled to roll out from July 2024, The Glendronach’s refreshed core range boasts an elegant and timeless aesthetic. This new design underscores the brand’s unwavering commitment to excellence, aiming to attract a broader audience while staying true to its roots. The revamp is described as a “significant transformation” for the Highland whisky brand.
Capturing the Essence of The Glendronach
In celebration of the rebrand, The Glendronach partnered with Scottish-born photographer and director John Rankin Waddell, better known as Rankin. His creative vision highlights the brand’s unique balance of tradition and imagination through captivating visuals. Rankin’s project includes a video featuring Spanish flamenco dancer Rocio Dusmet Orellana, who elegantly performs at the distillery, symbolizing the blend of Scottish heritage and Spanish influence.
Rankin expressed his enthusiasm for the project: “I loved the initial idea. Knowing the whisky sector well, this felt genuinely different and exciting. As a Scot, the concept of bringing flamenco to the Highlands stirred a passion in me that I couldn’t resist.”
Raising Expectations
Rachel Barrie, The Glendronach’s master blender, emphasized the brand’s philosophy: “The Glendronach is a revelation, offering a flavor crescendo that surpasses expectations. Our goal is to raise expectations in single malt by creating the most exceptional Sherried whisky. With these reimagined visuals, we are setting a new standard that matches the exquisite nature of our spirit.”
Barrie praised Rankin’s work, noting how his signature style amplified The Glendronach’s luxurious and flamboyant nature. The campaign encapsulates the duality of the robust Highland spirit and Spanish flair, creating a bold and flavorful experience that mirrors the whisky itself.
Honoring Heritage
The new packaging pays homage to the distillery’s surroundings, featuring bramble and rook motifs that reference the brand’s name, which means “valley of the brambles” in Scottish Gaelic. Despite the fresh look, the liquid inside The Glendronach’s 12, 15, and 18 Year Old expressions remains unchanged, ensuring the same high-quality whisky that fans love.

Future Releases
In addition to the core range, The Glendronach has exciting plans for later this year. The brand will launch the Master’s Anthology, a trio of exquisite whiskies, and expand its ultra-premium core line with new 21, 30, and 40-year-old releases.
The Glendronach’s rebranding signifies a bold step forward, combining rich tradition with contemporary appeal. With a clear vision and dedication to excellence, the distillery is set to continue its legacy of crafting exceptional single malt whisky.
