Crafted from carefully selected casks by Production Director John Campbell and his team, the Lochlea 5 Year Old marks first-ever age statement release. Notably, 2 of the 5 casks chosen date back to the very first cask filling in 2018, making this the oldest Lochlea whisky ever bottled.
The selected casks comprise 2 first-fill Bourbons (Casks #20 and #25), 1 first-fill Oloroso Sherry (Cask #249), a Double Matured PX Sherry (Cask #295), and a Double Matured Oloroso Sherry (Cask #272).
This exceptional dram exemplifies Lochlea’s evolution over the past 5 years, offering a sensory journey from brown sugar and baked pineapple on the nose to citrus zest and candied pear crumble on the palate. The finish unfolds with tangy orange peel transitioning into sumptuous caramel, complemented by hints of black pepper, rose petals, and leather.
