Indri unveils Diwali Collector’s Edition 2026 Ruby Port Cask

Indian single malt producer Indri has announced the Diwali Collector’s Edition 2026 Ruby Port Cask, the fourth release in its annual limited-edition series celebrating the Indian festival of Diwali. Bottled at cask strength, the new expression combines Indian barley with maturation in Ruby Port casks from Portugal.

Produced at the Indri distillery in Haryana, in the foothills of the Himalayas, the whisky was created by Master Blender Surrinder Kumar using small batches of indigenous six-row Indian barley. It is distilled in traditional copper pot stills and matured in northern India’s subtropical climate, where seasonal temperature variations influence the maturation process.

The 2026 edition has been bottled at 58.5% ABV. Its maturation in Portuguese Ruby Port casks adds fruit and sweetness to the distillery’s single malt profile, with the official tasting description highlighting black cherry, wild berries and ripe plum on the nose. Honeyed fruit and roasted nuts feature on the palate, alongside toffee, vanilla and fig, leading to a long, fruit-forward finish.

The release also continues the series’ focus on distinctive packaging. Indian designer Krsnaa Mehta created the artwork, drawing inspiration from traditional Indian miniature painting and the country’s royal heritage. The design features rich colours, intricate floral details and an image of a Marwari horse with its foal, symbolising nobility, heritage and continuity.

Since its introduction in 2023, the Indri Diwali Collector’s Edition series has accumulated 29 international awards, according to the brand. The inaugural Peated PX Sherry Cask release received Best in Show Double Gold at the Whiskies of the World Awards in 2023, while the 2025 Marsala Cask edition won Best World Whisky at the Las Vegas Global Spirits Awards 2025, scoring 99.1 points out of 100.

The 2026 Ruby Port Cask expression has also received six awards to date, including Gold medals at the World Whisky Masters and the New York World Spirits Competition.

The latest release continues Indri’s exploration of cask maturation, combining locally grown Indian barley and the country’s distinctive climate with the influence of Portuguese fortified wine casks.

Indri Diwali Collector’s Edition 2026 Ruby Port Cask is being released in very limited quantities in the UK, with just 180 individually numbered bottles available.
