Glenmorangie introduces a new addition to Barrel Select series, finished in French Calvados casks. The 12-year-old single malt acquires a fruity and floral essence from the chosen casks, renowned for their gentle orchard notes.
Notably, the Barrel Select series from Glenmorangie delves into various cask finishes, with previous editions featuring Amontillado and Cognac finishes.
Under the guidance of Dr. Bill Lumsden, the Glenmorangie team conducted an experiment by transferring a whisky aged for over a decade in American white oak bourbon casks into Calvados du Pays d’Auge casks from Normandy, resulting in a meticulously curated finish.
Dr. Lumsden expressed his enthusiasm for this novel endeavor, emphasizing Glenmorangie’s commitment to crafting exceptional whiskies through experimentation. The Glenmorangie Calvados Finish is lauded for its infusion of baked pears, vanilla, jasmine, toffee apples, lemon balsam, and spice, representing a delectable expansion of Glenmorangie’s repertoire.
