Kavalan Distillery has unveiled its first-ever whisky with an age statement—the Kavalan 15 Years Old Single Malt Whisky. Part of the ‘Time Exploration’ series, this limited-edition release highlights Kavalan’s dedication to craftsmanship and maturation, marking a significant milestone for the Taiwanese distillery.
Matured in a combination of ex-Bourbon, Oloroso Sherry, Ruby Port, and Puncheon casks, this whisky is bottled at 43% ABV and available in 700ml bottles. Only 30,000 bottles have been released globally, exclusively through Kavalan’s official channels in Taiwan, including the Kavalan Distillery Shop, Kavalan Whisky Shops, Kavalan Whisky Bar, and selected local liquor stores.
According to CEO Mr. YT Lee, the whisky was expertly blended using aged reserves from the four cask types to achieve exceptional complexity and balance. The packaging design reflects this effort, with natural wood grain symbolizing the depth and maturity of the whisky, while the gold-foiled Kavalan logo adds a luxurious touch.
Tasting Notes
- Color: Golden caramel
- Nose: Caramel apple mousse, fresh chocolate, walnut cinnamon rolls, and creamy popcorn, balanced by dried tangerine peel and plum. Hints of toffee and black date fruit create a warm, indulgent sweetness.
- Palate: Vibrant citrus notes of bergamot, lemon, orange, and grapefruit, layered with dried cranberries, raisins, and longan. Dark chocolate gelato and caramel walnut coffee mousse emerge, finishing with warming cinnamon spice.
The Kavalan 15 Years Old Single Malt Whisky 2025 Edition is priced at approximately $370 USD / £290 / €340.
